I have two complete sets of D2K stuff I want to put on it. If anyone knows of an empty or broken DK machine in the Rochester, NY area for a decent price, please let me know. Anything over $1000 I think is priced a bit too high but the right machine in the right condition could go for almost any amount. I think $600 - $700 is a good price if your willing to wait for that kind of deal. Places selling totally reconditioned machines sell them upwards of $1995. You can find them for half that sometimes. Honestly, I've seen a number of DK machines sell recently on Craigslist around me for prices down around $400 (one just sold within the week).
So if you find one of these machines, don't let it worry you and get it anyways and I'll be sure you get a working normal US board in trade (even if I have to buy another one). The difference is the Japan version plays only 4 boards per level (each type board once) where the US version plays like most of us are used to where only barrels and rivet boards make up the two boards of level 1, level 2 has 3 boards, level 3 has 4, level 4 has 5, level 5 and beyond has 6. I already have a Japan ROM board (with also doesnt' say Nintendo of America on the atract mode) but I really want the US version. I have always wanted one of the original DK boards (the first I ever played). If you find a US ROM version that doesn't say \"Nintendo of America\" on the attract screen, I would love to buy/trade you for it.
